Profile picture of Najva Akbari

I am an engineer and physicist, with experience in developing in vivo optical imaging techniques and applying them to small aquatic animals. I am interested in using small brains where a large fraction of the volume is accessible to understand how neuronal ensembles communicate to give rise to an outcome (e.g. sensory perception, social recognition, etc).  In the O'Connell lab, I will be using multiphoton microscopy to study neuronal activity deep inside tadpole brains.

When not in the lab, I enjoy drawing, painting, going to museums, music, cooking, reading, and finding the best costumes for my cat.
