Solidarity with Asians, Asian Americans, and Pacific Islanders

In response to the rapid escalation of xenophobia and anti-Asian racism resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and centuries of white supremacy, we as a lab stand in solidarity with our Asian American and Pacific Islander colleagues, friends, and communities. We must work together to end all forms of structural racism targeting Asian, Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color. We will be donating to Chinese for Affirmative Action in San Francisco, engaging in bystander intervention training against xenophobia, and applying to volunteer with Compassion in Oakland to support chaperones for the elderly. We share this message to encourage other labs with the available financial and social capital to take direct action against systems that regularly commit violence to uphold white supremacy. Silence is complicity.
